Professional Summary

Engineer   6/2011 – present

ETI Software

Engineer  3/2009 – 6/2011

ETI Software provides the cable and telecom industries with software that integrates multiple billing systems with multiple service provisioning systems. The Triad system comes with a “fat” client that provides all the controls a CSR and a plant manager would need to manage headends, video, data, billing, and telecommunications systems. I was hired to rewrite the client using web technologies which ETI was wholly unfamiliar with.

In addition to the rewrite I was tasked with writing several key pieces of software one of which is an RDVR application. The application allows consumers to view a television schedule, setup and manage recordings on their DVR equipment and also order PPV events. It was designed to work on both PC’s and mobile devices and is currently being tested for deployment at MTS which is one ofCanada’s largest cable TV providers.

ETI had four web services written in Java that the web applications used to interact with the Triad backend. These web services did not provide all the functionality required for the client applications. I proposed a new design and was asked to implement it which I did successfully making many improvements which included performance gains, and speeding up development of new functions in the services.

UI Engineer  9/2007 – 12/2008

At Autotrader.com I worked as a User Interface Engineer working primarily for the Ad Systems group on the Sponsorship Calendar and Ad Inventory Manager applications. Secondarily I was part of a two person team responsible for the Fastlane Foundation project. The purpose of the project was to distribute a set of CSS styles and Javascript behaviors at each build of the Fastlane application’s sub projects as part of an effort to standardize look and feel of all Fastlane applications. The applications were written in the Java UI framework JSF using the Rich Faces library in particular. I was responsible for the middle layer written in Java and the UI code written in JSF. I also wrote custom Javascript libraries to add functionality, usability and animation where Rich Faces fell short of our needs.

The Ad Inventory project is used by internal analysts to compute the capacity and availability of ad serving slots on the Autotrader.com consumer site as well measuring and recording the performance of current flighted campaigns. The application provided seasonality, segment variable groups and detailed reporting.

The Sponsorship Calendar is used by campaign strategists to track and reserve the hundreds of static ad slots.

The applications were developed under a highly demanding SLDC and were deemed crucial to the core business of Autotrader.com

Intent Mediaworks

Web Developer   9/2006 – 09/2007

Web developer position primarily focused on designing, editing and maintaining dynamic DRM templates. The templates were built from HTML, CSS and Javascript and then distributed over P2P networks using a proprietary system created by Intent Mediaworks. The templates contained user tracking scripts, ads, multimedia content and DRM licensing forms.

Other tasks include managing user tracking data in a MsSQL database with custom reporting tools written in Javascript and ASP, as well as interfacing with advertising resources such as ABM and Accipiter.

I was initially hired on to develop a social networking project that was centered on the travel industry. The application was built to run on a LAMP platform and interface with the social networking application People Aggregator. Once the application was finished Intent asked me to stay to work on their P2P application.
